The Newcomer Education Coalition and the Manitoba Research Alliance invites you to participate in the official launch of our research project Being Involved in Uninvolved Contexts: Refugee Parent Involvement in Children’s Education.

Together the MRA and NEC set out to develop a project that would provide a stepping stone for dialogue around the parental involvement of newcomer and refugee youth in the Manitoba Education system. Researcher Fadi Ennab, worked in partnership with many community organizations to conduct parent interviews and compile the findings into a report that identified both barriers refugee parents are facing when it comes to their child’s education, as well as recommendations that can be applied to overcome these barriers.
We invite you to be a part of the launch on January 25th 2018, were Fadi will be presenting his report to the public and NEC will we using this time to also update partners on our progress as a coalition. Refreshments and light snacks will be provided at the event, as well childminding will be available to those that require it.
